Abstract
Candida species are mostly believed to inhabit buccal mucosa and can co-aggregate with bacteria in the subgingival biofilm adhering to the epithelial cells. Such interactions are mainly responsible for their invasion and microbial colonization that contributes to progression of oral alterations caused by diabetes mellitus, some medications, and immunosuppressive diseases like AIDS. Herein, a brief description about the role of Candida species in various oral conditions is being presented.
