Abstract

Silver formerly treated epilepsy, venereal disorders, acne, and leg ulcers. Sodium citrate turns silver nitrate solution yellow. Reducing silver nitrate with sodium citrate produces the yellow colour. Silver nanoparticles are compatible with Xanthan and PVA, according to FTIR. Pure Xanthan film shows OH stretching at 3564.89 cm-1. Pure PVA film FTIR spectra have NH stretching band at 3699.92 cm-1. At 3564.89 cm-1, the spectrum shows hydrogen bonding and –OH stretch vibrations. The 2864.64 cm-1 band is associated with alkyl C-H stretching. Peaks arise at the same wavelength in a hydrogel made with silver nanoparticles. GSN4 absorbed the most water (155.3%) in 20 minutes, whereas GSN2 absorbed the least (63.6%). SEM was used to examine the surface morphology and particle size of silver nanoparticles (1.00, 800 X). Images show 100-nm silver nanoparticles. In UV-VIS spectroscopy, silver nanoparticles showed 397 and 420 nm absorption bands. Silver nanoparticles absorb visible light (350–550 nm, plasmon peak at 420 nm). Silver nanoparticles in Xanthan hydrogel were evaluated against Staph. aureus and E. coli. Silver nanoparticles function as a broad-spectrum antibiotic, suppressing bacterial growth in nutrient agar
