Abstract

Now with COVID pandemic and lockdown, classroom teaching had to be cancelled on an urgent basis. This unprecedented event made the teaching faculty to look for alternate methods of effective teaching in order to balance social distancing and continued medical education at the same time. Methodology: A set of pre-validated semi-structured questionnaire is sent through a software-based link to student’s WhatsApp group and given a time of 24hrs to fill it up and submit. The data were entered in Microsoft Excel and analyzed using SPSS software. Descriptive statistics was used and results were expressed as percentage Results: Most students had accessibility to the internet at their residence (94.2%) except for few (5.8%). 119(86.9%) of students have attended both prerecorded and live classes and 18(13.1%) of them have attended only live classes. 46 (33.6%) of the students strongly agree that practical aspects such as Clinical based problems, Mannequins, ADR and Counseling are better understood in conventional class rooms. Only 12 (8.8%) and 21 (15.3%) of the students strongly agree and agree online teaching assists in better understanding of Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacokinetics, ADR, interactions and therapeutic indications compared to Classroom teaching. Conclusions: With outbreak of new mutant strain of SARS CoV-2 VUI in India, Online training with interactive sessions and virtual clinical experience, followed by hands-on experience in a safe environment may help adopting effective continued medical education in this pandemic
