To study the toxicological studies of chalcone based pyrazoline compounds in which mutagenicity induced by 4- nitroquinolene-1-oxide in Salmonella typhimurium, and it was opposed by pyrazoline derivative is i.e.compound Py4.i.e. [3 (4-(N-acetyl-5-(methoxyphenyl)-4, 5 dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl) phenyl quinazoline-4(3H) one] at different concentrations but its antimutagenicity and chromosomal aberration actions are observed at 5 mg/plate.Chalcone based pyrazoline derivative showed a significant protective effect against mutagenicity induced by mutagen in S. typhimurium TA98 strain with or without metabolic activation. The emphasis of this work is to investigate the possible mutagenic, anti-mutagenic and chromosomal aberration properties of Compound 3 (4-(N-acetyl-5-(methoxyphenyl)-4, 5 dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl) phenyl quinazoline- 4(3H) one with Ames assay and Chromosomal aberration. Similarly, invitro chromosomal aberration assay did not reveal any significant alterations up to 5 mg/culture as compared to the negative control both in the presence and absence of the metabolic activation (S9 mix). The results of these studies indicate that compound is non-mutagenic in Ames test, exhibit protection against the mutagenicity induced by 4-nitroquinolene-1-oxide, sodium azide and 2- aminoflourene in TA98 and TA100 strain system.
