Abstract
Minoxidil is a direct arterial vasodilator, which acts by opening up adenosine triphosphate-sensitive potassium channels in the vascular smooth muscles. It is a very useful agent for the treatment of patients with difficult to treat, severe or resistant hypertension. With concerns raised over the efficacy of renal denervation treatment, it has become even more important to be able to skillfully use all of the existing but less commonly used drugs for the treatment of hypertension. This article provides a practical advice about using Minoxidil, based on author’s own experience.
