Snake bite is a serious health hazard occurs throughout the world. For the last century, antiserum is the only available specific treatment. There are number of medicinal plants mentioned in literatures, available locally which are used widely by the traditional healers against snakebite. Almost 80% of the people in the developing countries depend on traditional medicines for primary health care including snake bites, most of which are derived from plants. Hence, plants used for the treatment of snakebite may be alternative to antivenom serum. This article presents a review of plants showing neutralizing properties against snake venoms.
